Composio alternatives compared for MCP access in 2026

Need access rules for MCP servers you already use, or a catalog of integrations to build into your product? These Composio alternatives serve different jobs, so compare the fit before moving your workflows.

By the Toolstile team. Reviewed .

We make Toolstile, one of the products listed here, and compared each option on the same criteria (where it runs, how each AI app gets access, how accounts and sign-in work, what gets logged and what it costs) using public documentation and pricing rather than hands-on testing of every product. How we evaluated

The comparison below covers what a team leaving Composio has to decide: hosting, per-agent access, accounts and sign-in, logging, cost and the work left with you. Facts come from Composio's public documentation and pricing on the dates under sources. We ran no benchmarks and gave no scores.

Toolstile vs Composio

Composio offers an integration catalog, managed authorization and MCP access alongside SDK-based tool execution and triggers. It also accepts custom tools and MCP servers.

Toolstile compared with Composio
CompareToolstileComposioSources
Existing servers versus connector catalogBring public HTTPS MCP servers; Toolstile does not provide a replacement application-tool catalog.Composio combines app toolkits, custom tools and MCP servers.12
Free allowance and meter5,000 forwarded operations/workspace/month, including upstream failures; listing tools does not count.Hobby lists 100,000 tool calls/month and 50,000 triggers, with 3 team members. These meters differ.32
Paid cost structureStarter is $29/workspace/month for 50,000 operations; forwarding stops at the limit.Pro is $29/month with usage credit; own-app/API-key/MCP call usage beyond free amounts has a per-call rate.32
Authorization modelEach client authorizes to a workspace and receives grants; an approved team account is chosen explicitly.Single-toolkit MCP configurations use auth configs, allowed tools and generated user URLs.456
Organization controlsWorkspace roles manage administration; capability blocks override applicable allows. The gateway advertises org, team and user policies with action rules and central revocation. Confirm plan inclusion.57
Moving an application workflowA remote MCP client can be reconfigured after connection and auth checks; SDK and trigger logic need separate replacement.Composio documents SDK-driven configuration and recommends sessions for most MCP use cases.16

Where Composio is strong

  • Application toolkits and managed OAuth reduce connector-building work.
  • MCP configuration can restrict allowed tool names and create user-specific URLs.
  • Tool execution, triggers and custom MCPs share a platform.

What to weigh with Composio

  • A tool-call allowance is not equivalent to a gateway operation allowance.
  • Managed OAuth apps have different limits; production deployments may need their own OAuth app.
  • Confirm which enterprise gateway controls belong to the quoted plan.
Composio pricing
Hobby free; Pro $29/month plus usageHobby lists 100,000 tool calls and 50,000 triggers per month with 3 team members. Pro has a $29 monthly fee with $29 usage credit and unlimited members. Own-app, API-key or MCP calls beyond free amounts are $0.0003 each on Pro; managed-app and add-on rules differ. Choose Composio or Toolstile?

Stay with Composio if

  • You need maintained application toolkits rather than bringing your own MCP servers. 2
  • Your product embeds tool execution through an SDK, or depends on event triggers. 62
  • A large free tool-call allowance matters more than per-agent workspace rules. 2

Choose Toolstile if

  • The providers you use already publish remote MCP servers and you want to keep them. 1
  • You want explicit per-app grants with blocks that override broader allows. 5
  • A teammate's approved account should be shared without copying its token into every app. 4

Where Toolstile fits

Managed remote MCP accessOur product

Keep your chosen MCP servers and scope each client

Toolstile is useful when the integration already exists and the missing piece is controlled access. Connect the provider’s remote endpoint, choose the upstream account and grant each client only the capabilities it needs.

  • Avoid rebuilding a working remote MCP connection as an application integration.
  • Keep personal and team catalogs separate.
  • Use a workspace allowance with a hard stop and no paid overages.
Best for
Teams sharing remote MCP tools across their existing AI apps.
Good fit
You already have public HTTPS MCP servers and need team sharing or narrower client access.
Trade-off
Toolstile does not supply Composio’s application-tool catalog, event triggers or an embedded end-user integration SDK.

Switching from Composio to Toolstile

  1. Separate direct MCP usage from Composio SDK calls, triggers, auth configurations and any Composio-managed OAuth application.
  2. For each required action, identify a provider-run or independently hosted public HTTPS MCP server; compare its tool schema with the Composio toolkit.
  3. Reconnect accounts through the chosen server, create separate Toolstile client authorizations and translate required tools into named grants.
  4. Pilot the actual workflow, including pagination, auth renewal and blocked writes. Rebuild trigger or SDK-dependent steps separately before retiring their Composio configuration.

Frequently asked questions

When does Toolstile fit better than an integration catalog?

When your required tools already have public HTTPS MCP servers, Toolstile lets you reuse those endpoints, share approved accounts and choose what each AI app can call. That avoids migrating working tools into a different catalog. Composio SDK calls, triggers and toolkit-specific schemas still need a separate plan.

Sources5462
Which has the larger free allowance?

Composio publishes 100,000 monthly tool calls on Hobby; Toolstile publishes 5,000 operations per eligible Free workspace. Resource reads, prompt requests and failed upstream calls also count toward Toolstile operations, so the units differ and the numbers are not an equal-workload benchmark.

Sources23
Does Composio accept custom MCP servers?

Its current pricing page lists custom tools and MCP support, and the gateway page describes governed MCP access. Do not rule it out solely because it also offers a connector catalog.

Sources27
Will a connected Gmail account transfer automatically?

Plan to reauthorize it through the replacement server. Toolstile accepts authentication supported by a public HTTPS MCP endpoint; a Composio auth configuration is not a portable Toolstile account.

Sources61
When is Arcade the more relevant comparison?

When your application needs agents to act for individual end users and you want a tool runtime with managed authorization. Toolstile is a closer fit for an existing client-and-server workflow needing shared access controls.

Our recommendation

Choose Toolstile for access control around existing remote MCP servers. Keep Composio or compare Arcade when connector coverage, user-facing authentication or event triggers are core requirements. Compare the required enterprise gateway plan separately from developer-platform entry pricing.

Decide which tools each AI app may use

Free; paid from $29/workspace/month. USD, monthly per workspace, no per-seat fee: Free 5,000 operations; Starter $29 for 50,000; Team $99 for 250,000; Scale $299 for 1,000,000. No paid overages: forwarding stops at the allowance. Tool calls, resource reads and prompt requests count, including upstream failures; listing tools does not. Provider and AI-client charges are separate.
