We make Toolstile, one of the products listed here, and compared each option on the same criteria (where it runs, how each AI app gets access, how accounts and sign-in work, what gets logged and what it costs) using public documentation and pricing rather than hands-on testing of every product. How we evaluated

The comparison below covers what a team leaving TrueFoundry has to decide: hosting, per-agent access, accounts and sign-in, logging, cost and the work left with you. Facts come from TrueFoundry's public documentation and pricing on the dates under sources. We ran no benchmarks and gave no scores.

Toolstile vs TrueFoundry

TrueFoundry combines MCP inventory, federated identity and observability with a wider AI gateway and deployment platform.

Choose TrueFoundry or Toolstile?

Stay with TrueFoundry if

  • Model traffic and MCP traffic should share one gateway, budget and guardrails. 23
  • You need VPC, on-premises or data-residency deployment. 3
  • Per-user pricing fits your team size better than a workspace allowance. 3

Choose Toolstile if

  • You already have AI apps and model providers and only need MCP access control. 1
  • You want a flat workspace price rather than a per-user fee. 43
  • Different apps used by the same person need different tool grants. 5

Where Toolstile fits

Managed remote MCP accessOur product

Buy remote MCP access at the workspace level

Toolstile is a focused option for a TrueFoundry buyer who already has an AI client and model provider. Give that client the remote capabilities it needs, and keep its team access independent from personal connections.

  • Add members without a per-seat gateway fee.
  • Use different grants for separately authorized clients.
  • Keep operations within a published workspace allowance.
Best for
Teams sharing remote MCP tools across their existing AI apps.
Good fit
You need controlled access to existing public HTTPS MCP servers rather than a model or deployment platform.
Trade-off
Toolstile does not replace TrueFoundry’s model gateway, guardrails, VPC deployment or on-premises platform.

Switching from TrueFoundry to Toolstile

  1. Separate TrueFoundry MCP endpoints from model-gateway configuration, prompts, registries and deployed services in your dependency inventory.
  2. Identify the original public HTTPS MCP upstream for each pilot tool; retain internal services and model routes on a supported platform.
  3. Reconnect the intended upstream accounts in Toolstile and authorize each pilot client to the appropriate personal or team workspace.
  4. Rebuild grants and blocks, test a representative workflow of tool calls, and compare measured operations with your allowance before removing the old MCP route.

Frequently asked questions

When is a focused MCP workspace enough?

If your team already has its AI apps and model providers, Toolstile can manage access to their public remote MCP servers with separate client grants and approved shared accounts. You pay per workspace rather than per seat. Model routing, model budgets and deployed workloads remain a separate platform decision.

Sources4562
How do per-user and per-workspace costs compare?

TrueFoundry Pro publishes $25 per user/month, with 20,000 requests and tool calls per user pooled across the team. Toolstile charges per workspace and shares its allowance across members and agents. Compare both team size and the different request meters.

Sources34
Can Toolstile connect to an MCP server in our VPC?

Not through a private-network address. The managed gateway accepts only public HTTPS destinations on port 443. TrueFoundry’s Enterprise deployment options are more relevant when private infrastructure is required.

Sources13
Is Toolstile Free equivalent to TrueFoundry Developer?

No. They cover different platforms and allowances. TrueFoundry Developer includes LLM and MCP access for up to 3 users; Toolstile Free is a remote MCP workspace with 5,000 monthly operations.

Sources34
Where does enterprise SSO sit in each price list?

TrueFoundry lists SSO on Pro at $25 per user/month. Toolstile includes SAML/OIDC SSO and SCIM user provisioning on Scale at $299 per workspace/month; custom roles start on Team and delegate administration but do not federate sign-in.

Our recommendation

Choose Toolstile when the buying scope is a shared remote MCP workspace. Keep TrueFoundry in consideration when model traffic and deployment governance belong together. Compare the enterprise alternatives on your identity, network and export requirements before splitting the platform.
